Four Days in Stoke On Trent.

GAU visits Stoke on Trent.

The first of March saw the GAU team on the train to Stoke on Trent on another leg of the Global Acts of Unity tour. Unfortunately, we only had four days in the city before we headed back to Birmingham.

I have never visited Stoke on Trent before and it was exciting to see what we would be faced with. Stoke is an amalgamation of six towns and is still known to this day for its pottery. On our journey’s around Stoke we saw a number of the distinctly shaped kiln chimneys.

The Schools.

All the schools we presented at on this flying visit were wonderful. Beautiful buildings full of light and pleasant to be in. The students at all of the presentations were superb and we had some great discussions during the “Question and Answer” session.

We visited;

The Excel Academy.

Birches Head Academy.

St Thomas More Catholic Academy.

Ormiston Horizon Academy.

Thistley Hough Academy.

The Discovery Academy.

Last Thoughts.

As I said our visit to Stoke on Trent was just for a few days, however we found the people in this wonderful city friendly and warm. The students were wonderful and were so confident and willing to ask some great questions.

I really hope we get to return to this city and get a chance to explore and meet more folk, students and teachers. As always, my thanks goes to teachers, staff and the wonderful students at the schools we visited.

Over & Out,

Mike
